Inexpensive Neighbor Gift Ideas for Advent
Inexpensive Neighbor Gift Ideas for Advent with Free Black and White Printable Advent Numbers
We are doing a different type of Advent Calendar this year. Sure, there are a few boxes with candy and chocolates, but there are some days where the girls will receive a new book, do an act of kindness, or give their gift away to a neighbor or family member. I not only want to share my black and white printable advent numbers but also want to give you the details on 3 “gift away” ideas for your friends or neighbors.
Here are three different budget friendly ideas for giving a small gift to multiple people. For us, there are 12 kids on our street, and we wanted to give them gifts three days out of the 24 so naturally we wanted to give them something nice, but also be kind to our wallets.

How It Works
- Choose the dates. We are spreading these three gifts out and decided on delivering them December 9th, 14th, and 22nd. Choose whichever days you wish!
- Package and tag the gifts. I put them in larger bags and still placed the Black and White Printable Advent Number on the package of small gifts.
- Make it anonymous… if you want. We signed the tag, “Aragon Way Elves”. Aragon is our street name. It’s not about getting credit, even though our neighbors will probably know who it’s from. Ha!
- On the days you decided, the kids deliver the presents to the neighborhood instead of opening up a gift for themselves.
Neighbor Gift Idea #1: Hot Cocoa Boxes
At TJ Maxx, we found individually boxed hot chocolates called the Twelve Days of Hot Cocoa. I took them apart and placed them in clear favor bags and tied them with ribbon.
I made a tag the said, “here’s a little something to warm you up, add with some hot milk in your favorite cup”. This gift cost about $1 per person.
Neighbor Gift Idea #2: Craft for Kids
At Michael’s we found a gingerbread man ornament craft kit with 12 gingerbread girls and boys. It was on sale for $6. We opened them up and individually wrapped them and I made colored photocopies of the final craft so that the kids and parents would know what their gingerbread person should look like.
The tag on these sat, “run run as fast as you can, we thought you’d like to make a gingerbread man.”
Neighbor Gift Idea #3: Hot Cocoa Stir Sticks
My daughters loved these stir sticks and thought it was a great final gift to give our neighbors. This time, we put 4 stir sticks in each bag so that both the kids and parents could enjoy.
The tag on this one says, “for the cocoa or coffee upon your shelves, Merry Almost Christmas from the Aragon Way elves”.

These numbers are each 2.5” X 2.5”. We printed them on cardstock paper, cut them out, and use a hole punch to tie a ribbon on. Get the free printable download here: Free Black and White Printable Advent Numbers
This is a great way to break up advent so that the kids aren’t always receiving something, but giving as well. I hope you try it out!
What a great idea. I love this!
The girls are so excited to do this!
