Design Your Popcorn Sign

Using the Cricut Design Space, you can use any font of your choice. I chose Ariel and used the text “popcorn $1”. The design is up to you. Make sure to measure the lip of the lid to be sure the words will fit.

Cut out your words with your Cricut machine of choice, remove the excess vinyl, and weed the letters. Instead of using transfer paper, I decided to place the letters with a little bit of slant one by one. I placed “popcorn” along the front of the box and “$1” on the sides.

Putting it Together

  1. Measure and cut a piece of yellow construction paper and glue it to the bottom of the box. If your shoebox lid is colored or has a design on it, you can always wrap it with wrapping paper.
  2. Fill your popcorn treat boxes with yellow basket filler. I got these boxes at Hobby Lobby.
  3. Next, using hot glue, glue on each kernel on top of the shredded paper. Then, eat the rest of the popcorn… ha!
  4. Lastly, glue the boxes onto the tray.

I used black ribbon to hold the tray around my neck. The length will depend on you. I wrapped it around and then cut it. Hot glue the ends to towards the front bottom of the tray at an angle.

Add to Your Costume

If you want, you can wear an apron and hat. I bought these on Amazon. Here are the affiliate links: white kitchen aprons and paper retro diner hats. I love this costume because you can wear whatever you want underneath. Dress warm and cozy for trick-or-treating, or wear a short dress and heels for a fun Halloween party.
