Cucumber Water (unsweetened) recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 1/2 cups coarsely chopped seeded peeled cucumbers (about 4-5 medium)
  • 2 cups cold water

Instructions:

Peel, seed, and chop about 4 to 5 cucumbers, then blend them up. Blend until mixture is smooth but slushy, about 2 minutes. Pour the blended batch through a sieve that has been lined with cheesecloth. Let this concoction drip through in the fridge overnight.

Basil Simple Syrup recipe:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup loosely packed fresh basil

Instructions:

Stir water, sugar, and basil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and boil 1 minute or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, and let stand 30 minutes. Pour liquid through a wire-mesh strainer into a cruet or airtight container, discarding basil. Cover and chill 4 hours. Syrup may be stored in refrigerator up to 1 month.

Whenever using an electric blender or food processor, always check the manufacture manual to verify safety precautions.  Also chick if you can crush ice safely when using ice or any hard food substance.
