This year for Thanksgiving our family took a trip to Williams, Arizona to ride the Polar Express at the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel. We had a FABULOUS time! I highly recommend it and would go again in a second!Since we were visiting the North Pole and seeing Santa, my daughter asked me if we would see her Elf on the Shelf, Josie. I thought, humph…why wouldn’t we??? So, I had this idea of making DIY Elf on the Shelf luggage and having Josie appear on our way home from our trip in our car.
Here is a picture of her.
Here is how I made the luggage. I included some poems as well as printable luggage stickers that you can download for free to use as well.
Print and cut out the luggage stickers. Glue them onto small boxes and bags. Add straps to the luggage with thin colorful ribbon. Add a handle with thicker ribbon.

You can use this idea if your elf is traveling with you, for the arrival of your elf, or for the departure of your elf on the last day. I wrote two poems that you can print out. I also included a blank frame in case you want to write your own message. Here is what they say:
I’m Back / Travel Poem
I’m back and I’m here to travel with you! I’ve missed you so much; I was feeling blue. It’s great to be back and see you again, Can’t wait to spend some time with my friend!
Farewell! I can’t believe it’s time to go. I packed all my backs; I will miss you so! Be sure to be good and be kind to your friends. Until next year, when we meet again!
