DIY Mod Podge Leather Phone Case
This post, DIY Mod Podge Leather Phone Case is sponsored by Martha Stewart Living in support of the March of Dimes imbornto campaign. All opinions are 100% my own.
First, I have to say that I would love to dedicate the post to my Father who has been a well-respected doctor for over 50 years. He is someone that I respect, honor, and I always hoped to inherit an ounce of his talent, wisdom, passion, and charity. With continued education from Harvard, John’s Hopkins, and as past President of hospitals, nursing homes, and the Medical Society, he has always taught my brother and me the importance of health, helping others, and giving back to organizations like the March of Dimes.
The March of Dimes imbornto® campaign celebrates the mothers and fathers who guarded our health and safety at birth and allow us to be our best every single day. For Father’s Day, and coincidentally my father’s birthday, I wanted to make him a special personalized gift. Since he is a doctor, his cell phone (which has replaced his beeper over the years) is always with him. It’s his connection to both his business and personal lives. Since we live 3,000 miles away from each other, I wanted him to be able to think about me, my brother, and my daughter every time he makes or answers a phone call.
Materials:
- Leather Cell Phone Case
- Photos
- Mod Podge
- Paint Brush
- Scissors
Instructions:
I purchased a leather phone case that fit his phone.
I measured the front cover and made a collage of pictures that I found on Instagram and Facebook of our family and cut the collage out.
I rounded the corners of the picture collage as well to match the shape of the case. I chose Mod Podge with a matte finish and applied it to both the back of the picture and the front of the cell phone cover.
Then, I place the photo onto the cover and brushed a layer of Mod Podge on top of the photo. Be sure to get the edges. I used three coats, allowing it to dry for 15 minutes in between coats.
Here is the final product.
Support of the March of Dimes last year provided 15,700 babies lifesaving surfactant therapy, developed by March of Dimes researchers, and gave 90,000 families with a newborn in intensive care comfort and information through NICU Family Support®.
Here are a couple ways you can participate in The March of Dimes imbornto® campaign:
- Celebrate Dad with Chef Emeril and add a donation to your check at participating Emeril Restaurants in New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Orlando from now until 6/21/15.
- Shop at The Bon-Ton Stores and receive a $10-off coupon for every $3 donation to March of Dimes made at checkout.
- Join Martha Stewart and the #THX2U movement and share a photo of your Mom and Dad with the world like I did.
To this very day, my father continues to pass his knowledge on by lecturing and speaking at conferences twice a year. He is always giving back and donating his time and money to important causes like the March of Dimes. I hope you join me in celebrating your fathers in support of this wonderful campaign!
