Repurposed Pie Stand
Trash to Treasure Repurposed Pie Stand: From Pie Keeper to Make-Up Keeper
For years I have wanted to go to the 500 Mile Yard Sale that extends from Virginia to Mississippi. The north/south route named the U.S. Antique Alley Yard Sale began Memorial week-end passing through portions of Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.
The next portions of the 500 Mile Yard Sale include:
June 5-7 Dixie Highway Yard Sale (Ringgold to Marietta, GA)
Aug. 6-9 World’s Longest Yard Sale (Addison, Mich. To Gadsden, AL)
Sept. 30-Oct. 3 Highway 411 Yard Sale (Leeds, AL to Newport, TN)
Here I am on the U.S. 11 in McDonald, Tennessee, as I begin my treasure hunt with hubby in tow.
My husband and I bought an oak desk from Bill, a self-described “junker.” The desk was originally owned by a Congressman in the early 1900s. With true southern hospitality, Bill gave us a bag of home grown tomatoes as a thank you for stopping by.
So many antiques, so little time! It was difficult deciding what I absolutely needed to buy! Know the feeling? At this stop I found an old pie keeper and some miscellaneous plates and dishes. Once I bought them I knew exactly what I wanted to make out of them!
Here’s the pie keeper before painting.
Using some white spray paint I already had, I sprayed the pie keeper.
All I had to do was add a plate to each level and then add my make-up.
This pretty make-up keeper will be a nice memory of my day on the U.S. 11 Antique Alley Yard Sale! And, yes, I plan to visit the next three portions of the 500 Mile Yard Sale in June, August and September/October!
