DIY Creative Tool Belt for Kids

This article, DIY Creative Tool Belt for Kids, is sponsored by Amazon’s Original Kids Series, Creative Galaxy. All opinions are 100% my own.

On Tuesday, February 7, the award-winning Amazon Original Kids Series Creative Galaxy debuts “Heart Day,” a lovable new Valentine’s Day special for kids and families all across the country, on Prime Video! In honor of this, I made a Valentine Heart Day creative tool belt for kids so that my daughter and her friend would both have creative tool belts for their play date.

This tool belt is inspired by main character, Arty’s tool belt, and Arty’s Tool Belt activity kit.  It is a no sew craft that takes a few minutes and perfect way to celebrate Heart Day!

Time: 30 Minutes

Materials:

  • Felt
  • Foam Heart (or Felt Heart)
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue and Glue Gun
  • Ribbon
  • Straight Edge
  • Pencil

Watch the video tutorial:

Instructions:

Cut felt into these pieces:

  • 1 – 9”X9”
  • 1 – 9”X7”
  • 1 – 2”X3.5”
  • 1 – 2.25” X2.25”

Glue the 9”X7” piece on top of the 9”X9” piece on three sides to create a pocket. Next, glue the foam heart to the front center, leaving the top open to form another pocket.  Use the smaller two pieces of felt to make two more pockets on either side of the heart.  Glue ribbon to the top back of the pockets.  Make sure that the ribbon is long enough to tie around your child’s waste.

My daughter and her friend wore their tool belts and painted pictures that came in the paint with water pads from the activity kit.

More about Creative Galaxy:

Amazon’s award-winning Creative Galaxy from Out of the Blue Enterprises is a make-along, create-along art adventure series for preschool children. Animated by 9 Story Entertainment, the series follows Arty, an adorable alien artist, and Epiphany, his inspirational side-kick, on their adventures through the Creative Galaxy as they solve problems through art. To give kids and parents the real-life tools they need to recreate Arty’s experience, a live-action piece at the end of each animated episode takes families through the craft project Arty showcased in the galaxy. In 2015, Creative Galaxy received the Parents’ Choice Gold Award for Television (ages 3-5).

In “Heart Day,” Epiphany (Kira Gelineau, Dear Viola) is ready to show her love with a special performance on Groovopolis, but she accidently ruins her costume before the show! She and Arty (Meesha Contreras) fly into the Creative Galaxy for a solution and together they help all his friends along the way learn that everyone has their own special way of saying “I heart you!” Samantha Bee (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee) and Jason Jones (The Daily Show) guest star as Arty’s parents, and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb lends her voice as Melody.

Don’t forget to tune in on February 7th to watch the special Valentine’s Day “Heart Day” episode!
