Easy Thrift Store Mirror Update
I bought this Target mirror at Goodwill for a great price. I recall seeing it at Target before and I loved it then. I loved the lines and knew exactly where I would hang it; however the blue would not match my existing décor.  It also had a couple nicks and scratches. I decided to make it a metallic silver to match a collage of family photos I have hanging in my living room. Here is how I did this easy thrift store mirror update.
Materials:
- Mirror
- Drop Cloth
- Spray Primer
- Paint
- Screwdriver
Here is a photo of the mirror before. I love the blue, but like a said, it didn’t match anything I had.
First, I disassembled the mirror using a screw driver from my crafty toolbox.
I wanted to prime it for two reasons. The first reason was because I was painting it a lighter color, and secondly because it had a few imperfections. Make sure you use a drop cloth and protect all surrounding surfaces. Spray in a well-ventilated area. I sprayed two coats waiting about one minute in between coats.
Note: For more tips on how and when to use primer, check out my post on it!
After the primer dried, I spray painted it with a metallic silver color. I used two coats and spray painted both sides.
After it dried completely I assembled it and hung it next to my family photo collage. I loved how it turned out!
What brand of spray paint did you use? Is it a metallic, it’s hard to tell?
Hi Emily! Oh shoot…I think I used Krylon’s indoor/outdoor metallic spray paint in silver.
I love it… Very pretty.
Thank you Blondie!!
Love this!!! I want that mirror now!!
LOL! Thanks, Rosy!
It looks wonderful! Blue wouldn’t go in my home either, but I would have loved to paint it gold! Great idea.
I contemplated doing it gold too! Thanks, Pattie!
I need to get out my spray paint.
I just love this mirror…and I want it for my house.
Thanks Jill! It was a lucky find!
