The Little Mermaid Party Ideas
I had the honor of working with my best friend Jenny from Simply Creative Ways on this Little Mermaid themed party for her daughter’s fourth birthday this year. You may remember Jenny from her ultimate parties in the past like her Alice in Wonderland Party, Circus Party, and Candyland Party. This party was smaller in size, however she did not leave out any detail! It was a gorgeous, and not to mention fun party. This post is filled with a ton of The Little Mermaid party ideas from decorations to cake.
Here is a video I made showing all the decorations:
Under The Sea Decorations
Jenny made these adorable jellyfish lanterns and fish lanterns out of some old party lanterns she had saved. We hung them on finishing line under some blue and green plastic table cloths we draped under the patio. When the wind blew, the table clothes moved like the waves of the ocean.
Ariel’s Treasure Trove
This was my favorite part! I brought over some glittery under the sea decorations that I had bought a long time ago for a Little Mermaid party I wanted to throw my daughter that never happened. Doh! I lent them to Jenny and we transformed the food table into Ariel’s Treasure Trove.
Jenny brought out her good silverware (AKA Dinglehoppers) and we placed them inside containers and candlesticks. We also used seashells, netting, and other treasures Jenny found around the house.
The Little Mermaid Food & Drink Ideas
For the food and drink, I designed labels on my computer and Jenny and her older daughter made food signs for the table. Jenny served goldfish (crackers), whales (crackers), Sebastian sandwiches (meat sandwiches and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches), clam cookies (lemon cookies with icing and a chocolate pearl), shellfish pasta (macaroni pasta), and fish food (fruit skewers).
For drinks she served Mermaid Punch (blue juice) and Seawater (water).
The Little Mermaid Kid’s Table
Jenny decorated the kids table with blue linens, artificial flowers, and sea glass. She made little place settings with scrapbook paper and also made seashell and burlap bottles for their drinks.
The Little Mermaid Party Favors
The party favors for the guests were so cute! Jenny made each girl a personalized Under the Sea Mermaid headband with real shells. Here are some of my favorites.
The Little Mermaid Cake
Grandma Hoss, a former baker, made a beautiful Ariel chocolate layer cake for Becca. It was not only gorgeous, but moist and so yummy! The details were amazing!
The party was fabulous! The adults had fun too. I brought over some homemade sangria and some recycled wine cork charms I made. Stay tuned for a Rapunzel party that Jenny and I are doing together!
I absolutely love this! What a colorful and enchanting party!
Thank you so much, Sarah! We had a great time pulling things from around the house to decorate.
for the croissant sandwiches what were the eyes made out of?
Hi Colleen! They are candy eye balls. You can find them in the cooking decorating section of the grocery store. I hope this helps!
I purchased the candy eyes for my daughters birthday party. How did you attach them to the tooth picks? Thanks you 🙂
Hi Krystyna! Use a little bit of white icing. Thanks for stopping by!
This looks so adorable… I’m planning a mermaid themed party for my daughters second birthday and I’ve looked everywhere for glittery artifiacial plants that resemble seaweed or ocean plants. Where did you buy yours?
Hi Cindy! I bought them at a place called Shinoda. It’s a design center. How about these? (affiliate links) http://amzn.to/2aDdv2T or http://amzn.to/2aonyYY or http://amzn.to/2aDepwf. Or maybe if you buy plastic greenery from the craft store you can use glitter spray paint. This is what I use: http://amzn.to/2ayeOCv. It comes in a lot of fun colors! I hope this helps!
Hello Dinah, This is SO lovely. I am planning a mermaid party for my soon to be 2yr old. Where did you get the sparkly seahorse? They are so cute.
Thank you!! The sparkly sea horses came from a Christmas ornament shop. These are a little more elaborate but I found these on Amazon (affiliate link) https://amzn.to/2E5Sjnj.
Hi Dinah.
Super loved the decorations. Where did you get the decorative seahorse?
Hi Erica! A friend did this party and borrowed it from another friend. I have seen similar ones at Home Goods.
