Thrift Store Doll Bed Makeover DIY
I was perusing Goodwill last week and found this wooden doll bed for $7. I snatched it up right away and posted it on Facebook and Instagram. I got to work almost immediately because I couldn’t contain my excitement for the great deal I just got. Here is my Thrift Store Doll Bed Makeover DIY. The Bed Here is the bed I bought. Isn’t it adorable?
It was a little beat up as you can see and when I put in the slats they didn’t stay in and kept falling out.
I disassembled the whole thing.
I spot sanded a few areas where there were a lot of scratches.
I asked my daughter what color she wanted and naturally she said, “PINK!”
After I painted it, I glued in the wooden mattress slats and let it dry.
The Mattress As you can see there was no mattress. I actually had some high density foam left over from the garage sale bench makeover I did. I measured and cut it to fit the bed using my trusty Fiskars amplified scissors (P.S. They are awesome).
I bought some flannel fabric at Jo-Ann’s. I intentionally bought flannel because I used hot glue to attach the fabric to the foam. I simply wrapped it like a present. It fit beautifully.
The Bedding For the bedding I made it all reversible, so I made two pillows out of the fabric and a blanket, stuffing the pillows with polyester fiber fill.
I also made a white pillow out of white felt.
Here are some AFTER photos! My daughter was so excited and so far she’s played with it every day since I gave it to her!
