Trash To Treasure

Upcycled Axe Head Welcome Sign

Trash to Treasure: Upcycled Axe Head Welcome Sign

Upcycled Axe Head Welcome Sign

An old axe head was given to me and I had no idea what to do with it until I went to the local thrift store and saw these wooden hearts on a $1.00 clearance table. Somehow the axe head and these hearts fit together in my mind!  I went home and removed the grapevine from the hearts and painted them red.

Of course the old axe head had to be painted too.  I’m told this axe head is very old as it is two edged and isn’t made with regularity any longer.  Here’s the before and after of the axe head:

I painted the little red bells with a Painters Pen which made painting easy.

After slipping the axe head over the metal that held the hearts and replacing the grapevine, I knew I needed to have Connie Early, once again do her magic and add the  word Welcome to the Sign.

Here it is hanging on one of the columns of our front porch!  The new WELCOME sign is the perfect addition for us.  This axe head is old and no longer in day to day production, but it has been given a new assignment, to welcome everyone to our home!
