I have HUGE news! I’m pregnant with baby #2!!! This was a very pleasant surprise for my family. You see, not many people know this but this is my third pregnancy in three years. Without going into too much detail, the last few years have been tough for us. They have been filled with doctor visits, tests, emotional stress, and pregnancy complications. I kept it quiet for so long, but now that I am five months pregnant with what we believe is a healthy baby girl, I feel like shouting it from the rooftops.

Now that the tests are over, and I can relax a little, I want to get started on getting the nursery ready. Designing a room for a child or baby that is safe as well as incorporates lasting style that grows up with them can be tough given the number of precautions you have to take. Precautions range from covering outlets, hard corners, and window cords. With healthy baby #2 on the way, I want to take some child and baby safety tips and tricks into consideration for protecting against hazards. I have covered every electrical outlet in all rooms with plastic outlet covers, and I have child safety locks on all cabinets and doors.  There is padding on the sharp corners of my dining room table and I just purchased a child safety gate for the stairs. I have also checked all the smoke detectors and made sure the carbon monoxide detector has fresh batteries.

Now that I have taken all these precautions, I want to tell you about Smith & Noble and another very important precaution. Smith & Noble is an active member of the WCSC (Window Covering Safety Council), and feel an obligation as a window covering industry leader to protect consumers from potential dangers by offering education and solutions that minimize or eliminate the risks. Smith & Noble urges families to retrofit or replace any potentially dangerous window coverings with today’s safer products. WCSC and CPSC recommend that only cordless window coverings, or those with inaccessible cords, be used in homes with young children.
