DIY Inspired Patio Makeover

Succulent Centerpiece for Patio

When we first bought this house, we knew that one of the first things we had to fix was the patio. It ALMOST didn’t pass inspection, as it leaned a little bit and the wood was rotted. We ended up hiring a contractor to do it. You can see the process and my tips for hiring a contractor as well.  Now that it’s been a while and we have done some work on the inside, we actually had time to focus on little touches for this little patio makeover as an extension of our outdoor space.

Here is the patio when we moved in. You can’t really tell how bad it was.

Patio Before

Here is the after. I think the white is SO much better!

Patio After

We chose to have an insulated roof on part of it including a fan and lighting. We also got some outdoor rugs and pillows.

Patio Makeover Living Room Area

I brought out a thrift store ottoman that I made over and reupholstered as well.

Patio Foot Ottoman

I also made over my daughter’s picnic table so she has a place to draw, paint, or eat with her friends.

Kids Picnic Table with Upholstered Bench

Our dining area is cozy. Above the table is a DIY Mason jar chandelier that I made from recycled spaghetti sauce jars and a stick from a nature walk with my daughter.

I filled some thrift store vases with mini succulent gardens and placed them on all the tables.

Patio Table Centerpiece

I also made a repurposed planter out of a plastic yogurt container.

My family and I love it out here. It’s a great place to entertain, sip my morning coffee, or even work while my daughter plays in the backyard.

Oh wow! I love this so much! If only we had a patio like this! I really want to make some similar updates to our outside space but the weather is just not playing the game here in the UK this summer! I love your cushions and rug and the little vases and pots filled with succulents are so cute! My favourite is the picnic table, such a great idea to have a space for the kids to get busy outside so you can enjoy your lovely space while they play! Visiting from the Happy Housie linkup. Looking forward to visiting again!
