DIY Wood State Art
DIY Wood State Art, Written By Loren Crane
I’ve been to many states but there have been to places in this world that I would call home. They are New York and California. I miss one home but live in the other and I wanted to find a way to remember them both because we sometimes need a reminder that we are very lucky to be living in such a beautiful place. I also want to have another reason to smile at something pretty every morning. I went out and got two wood slices which you can find at your local craft store to make the silhouettes for my two favorite states.
The first thing I did when I got wood slices was clean them up from any saw dust. Then I applied black acrylic paint. Depending how hot or humid your home might get you might even want to seal the wood so it won’t dry out.
I got my cameo silhouette out and made a stencil of New York and California. I decided to design a cute little heart in the middle of New York and add the words home is where you are because where ever my hubby goes I will follow.
Once the stencils where created I used white acrylic paint to go over the stencil. Except for the heart which I did in purple because it my favorite color. To finish it off I added hanging hooks so I can display them on the wall or maybe on my DIY trunks.
What state will you be stenciling on your wood slice?
