DIY Party Ideas

40th Birthday Party Ideas for Men

40th Birthday Party Ideas for Men with FREE Printable

I just attended my brother-in-law’s 40th birthday party and made these little signs requested by my sister-in-law. It got me thinking about different 40th Birthday Party Ideas for Men. I also wanted to share these printables for free, as they were such a big hit at the party. But first, here are a few ideas.

Idea #1: Create a Beer Tower “Cake”

This one only takes a few minutes. All you have to do is create a three layer “cake”, by stacking the honorees favorite canned soda or beer. You can make it as small or grand as you wish. Start with a circle or square and layer more cans on top with a slightly smaller layer. To finish it off, tie thick ribbon around the center of each layer and tape the ends together with double sided tape.

Idea #2: Host a Whiskey and Cigar Bar

Not only does my husband and his friends like beer, but they also like whiskey! Host a whiskey bar by having whiskey and all the ingredients and garnishes to make your own drink. Don’t forget an ice bucket, glasses, and shaker. If you go the extra mile, have the recipes printed and displayed. Here are a few great recipes.

Whiskey Mule Recipe

  • 2 oz. of whiskey
  • 6 oz of ginger beer
  • Splash of lime juice
  • Lime wedge
  • Mint Sprig

Whiskey Manhattan Recipe

  • 1 oz. of Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 oz. of Whiskey
  • Dash of Bitters
  • Cherry
  • Orange twist

Whiskey Sour

  • 2 oz. of Whiskey
  • 4 oz. of Sweet and Sour Mix
  • Cherry

Place some cigars at the bar for an added bonus!

IDEA #3: Make Your Own Easy Photo Toppers

Facebook and Instagram are awesome resources for pictures of the birthday boy. You can make a fun personalized cake or cupcakes by adding funny photos as the toppers. I have a few tutorials for these.

IDEA #4: Have a 40th Birthday Memory Jar

I love this idea for any birthday or celebration. All you need are:

  • Large Jar or Bowl
  • Index Cards or Pieces of Paper
  • Pencils and/or Pens

Have a table set up asking guests to write down a favorite memory or funny story about the guest of honor. After all the guests arrive, read the stories out loud. A good time is when you are serving cake and everyone is eating. Another option is to pull out the stories randomly and read then sporadically throughout the party.

IDEA #5: 40 Sucks 40 Blows 40 Can Kiss My Ass

My sister in law asked me to make these signs. Originally, I was going to have:

  • Lollipops for 40 Sucks
  • Bubble Gum for 40 Blows
  • Chocolate Kisses for 40 Can Kiss My Ass

…but then I saw 10 bottles of Fireball at Walmart for Less than $8.00!!! So, I added the little heads of my brother-in-law and some ribbon and placed them in the 40 Can Kiss My Ass bucket. According to the party guests apparently Fireball was a WAY better choice than chocolate kisses. Hahaha!

These little mini liquor bottles are also great party favors…that is, if there are any left after the party.

Birthday Party Ideas for Men Favor Idea

I found the three buckets pictured here at Walmart as well for under $10.

Print, cut, and tape the signs to a jar or tray. The three mini buckets were perfect for this. I taped the signs to a BBQ skewer and then taped the skewer to the inside of the bucket.

IDEA #6: Make Your Own Photo Backdrop

Make your own backdrop and get these free 40th birthday party photo booth props. I helped decorate this party for a friend. Check out how I made a backdrop perfect for my friend, Brad (he is rad).

Hi, Dinah! Just let you know, you saved my creative brain, from going into overload. We are having a small party for my 40 year old son, tomorrow and I kept seeing this Pin. I love it. I was SO happy I could print these out and add them to the décor. 🙂 My son is a firefighter and I have a banner I’m doctoring up with a fire truck.
I have all the add on”s , kisses, bubble gum and lollipops. I just couldn’t figure out the little signs.
Thank you so much for your awesome ideas. If I get this show on the road, I’ll try to get pics. I’m not very computer smart with pictures. I’ll let you know how it all goes down. Thank you, again.
