Spongebob Squarepants Gift Wrapping

Spongebob Squarepants Gift Wrapping

Paper crafting is therapeutic for me.  It’s relaxing and fun, and I get to be creative. I love gift wrapping too (I have gotten creative in the past with Olaf and Superheroes to name a couple) and when you put the two together, I’m in craft heaven.  My daughter was invited to a Spongebob themed birthday party for this weekend. I noticed that the gift we bought was the perfect shape to make my own Spongebob Squarepants gift wrapping.

I have to be honest, I have never watched a Spongebob episode but I have a feeling I’d like the guy. So, I grabbed the party invitation and used it as a guide to turn our gift into this little dude. I grabbed some paper scraps and some other supplies already in my craft room.

Materials:

  • Paper (2 shades of yellow, red, brown, black, blue, white)
  • Wrapping paper
  • Tape (regular and double sided)
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Circle craft punches
  • Ruler
  • Paper cutter
  • Pencil

Our present is headphones and a gift card, so I taped the card to the box.

Spongebob Gift Wrapping for a Birthday

I wrapped the present first because I thought it was easier to only decorate the front, versus doing a 3 dimensional Spongebob. I actually used the same wrapping I used last year for his Hot Wheels birthday present. Next I measured the box and cut a yellow piece for his body, a white piece for his shirt, and a brown piece for his pants and taped it on.

For his eyes I used three different circle craft punches. I also cut 6 thin black strips for his eye lashes.

Here is the part where I winged it! For his body I cut circles in 2 different sizes in a shade lighter than the yellow of his body. I used the picture as a guide to cut out his mouth, tongue, teeth, and nose. I also cut out triangles and a tie for his shirt and black strips for his belt loops.

I taped and glued it all together.

Here are a couple after photos. I did this while my daughter was at school and when she came home and saw it she got a kick out of it. I hope the birthday boy does too!
