Here are some kid-friendly St. Patrick’s Day craft ideas.
Paper Plate Leprechaun
Materials: Paper plate, green construction paper, orange construction paper, black marker, scissors, glue, googly eyes.
Instructions:
- Cut out a hat shape from green construction paper and a strip for the hatband. Attach them to the top of the paper plate.
- Cut out a beard shape from orange construction paper and attach it to the bottom of the paper plate.
- Glue on googly eyes.
- Use the black marker to draw a mouth and other facial features.
- Optional: Add a paper shamrock or gold coins to the leprechaun’s hands.
Shamrock Suncatcher
Materials: Green and clear plastic plates, green tissue paper, scissors, glue, string.
Instructions:
- Cut out a shamrock shape from the center of both the green and clear plastic plates.
- Cut the green tissue paper into small squares or pieces.
- Apply glue to one side of the clear plastic plate and place the tissue paper pieces on it to create a colorful background.
- Once dry, glue the green plastic plate on top to create a sandwich with the tissue paper in the middle.
- Poke a hole at the top of the suncatcher and thread a string through it for hanging.
Pot of Gold Craft
Materials: Small clay pots, black paint, paintbrush, gold coins or yellow pom-poms, glue.
Instructions:
- Paint the outside of the clay pot black and let it dry.
- Once dry, fill the pot with gold coins or yellow pom-poms to represent the gold.
- Optional: Decorate the pot with shamrock stickers or glitter.
Rainbow Handprint Craft
Materials: White paper, washable paint (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple), paintbrush, scissors.
Instructions:
- Paint each finger of your child’s hand a different color of the rainbow.
- Carefully press the hand onto the paper to make a handprint.
- Once dry, use scissors to cut out the handprint shape.
- Draw or cut out a cloud shape from white paper and glue it to the top of the handprint.
Leprechaun Hat Headband
Materials: Black construction paper, green construction paper, yellow construction paper, scissors, glue, headband.
Instructions:
- Cut out a strip of black construction paper to fit around the headband and glue it in place.
- Cut out a hat shape from black construction paper and a strip for the hatband from green construction paper.
- Glue them together and attach them to the headband.
- Cut out a buckle shape from yellow construction paper and glue it to the front of the hatband.
