Stenciled DIY Coat Hanger for Kids
I was perusing Home Goods the other day. I love that place! I always find something when I go. One of the last things I do before I leave is check the clearance section in the back. You never know what you can find that just needs a little TLC. This time I found a coat hanger that would be perfect for a beach house. One of the hangers in the back was broken, so it was marked down to $8.00. The only problem is that I don’t have a beach house… I DO however have some creativity and a need for one of these in my daughter’s room. So, I ended up buying it and upcycling this DIY coat hanger.
Here is what it looked like when I bought it. It’s super cute but, again… no beach house. It’s fairly large and will be perfect for my daughter’s, hats, purses, coats, or dress-up clothes.
First, I painted it my daughter’s (for now) favorite color purple.
I thought about stenciling a new saying or quote, but decided on these pretty stencils by Martha instead.
I fixed the hook in the back and hung it up in Mia’s room. I love it and can’t believe it was only $8.00! I already had all the other supplies, so I didn’t spend a dollar more. Here are a couple photos.
In case you missed it, here are some other DIY Kid’s makeovers I have done.
Wow Dinah… Lovely post … I just love the hanger

Super cute. I love making over. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
this is a beautiful makeover! I found you via the Kim Fix linky party. I’ve seen lots of these hangers dirt cheap in some stores and didn’t like them, I didn’t even think of adding a lick of paint! I might have to do that now 🙂
Thank you so much, Claire!
This is so pretty. I liked the beach one but I like yours better.
Thank you Trish! I liked the original too but it just didn’t go with our decor (I wish it did!).
I love how this turned out. It really goes terrific in that space!
Thanks, Stephanie!
